Managing Attorney
Los Angeles, California
Nicole M. Perez is the managing attorney of the Veterans Justice Center at Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA). As a disabled Latina from a marginalized community, Nicole has dedicated her career to fighting for economic and racial justice. At LAFLA, Nicole works passionately to ensure that Veterans have a steady source of income, a safe and stable home, and access to the fresh start and healthcare that they need to thrive. Nicole's love for access to justice also led her to develop and implement LAFLA's expansive Online Intake triage system, and she is currently co-leading the development of LAFLA's Tablet Intake system and LAFLA's transition to case management software LegalServer.

With a law degree and Masters in Social Work, Nicole practices holistic advocacy, utilizing technology and the support of pro bono, community, and social service partners. Nicole obtained her graduate degrees in Law and Social Work from UCLA, her undergraduate degrees in Social Welfare and Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley, and her “degree” in life skills from her kind and hardworking single father Fred Perez. Above all, she is her father’s daughter. Nicole began her legal career as a Skadden Fellow in homelessness and government benefits advocacy at LAFLA. She is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Loyola Law School where she founded and continues to teach a veterans justice practicum to upper-level law students.

Nicole lives in East Hollywood and is the proud dog mom of Francis and Mijo. On most weekends, you can find her roadtripping on scenic byways and inside America's National Parks.
