Lee Pliscou has been the executive director of Micronesian Legal Services Corporation since 2012. Before coming to MLSC, he was with California Rural Legal Assistance, on and off, since 1987. His work in legal services provided him the opportunity to have been selected as one of the top 10 trial attorneys in the U.S. by Trial Lawyers for Public Justice (1996). Mid-career, he took a break from legal services and was in private practice long enough to make enough money that he and his wife could squander four years on a small boat visiting remote islands in the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic oceans. He learned that succession planning when crossing an ocean with your family on a small boat should focus on retention of key staff.
