Volunteers are organizing a cooperative legal aid hackathon to coincide with ITC on January 14th, 2020 from 8 AM-5 PM. The hackathon will take place at 811 SW 6th Ave #1000, Portland, OR 97204 (Industrious co-working space, very close to the conference hotel). People with a wide range of skills are encouraged to participate. “Hackathon” means a group of people all working together in a short time to try to solve a real problem. It could mean producing a web app, researching, gathering and collating data, creating a PowerPoint, or designing a set of principles and best practices that will help other legal technology projects work better in the future. Drop-ins are welcome, but anyone who can sign up in advance should do so at https://forms.gle/hgHg3jpVpcv5qDmb7.

Attendees are expected to do most of the work during the day of the hackathon in teams of 3-4. You do not need to come with an idea, as some teams will already be created prior to the hackathon and you are welcome to join an existing team. People will be allowed to start earlier on their projects if they want, but not expected to do so. Documate is sponsoring both the venue and some light snacks/lunch for the day. The final projects will be presented to the wider conference on Wednesday at 5 PM in the Atrium Ballroom.

The Hackathon is being supported by Documate and LIT-Lab PDX (the Portland Legal Innovation and Technology) Meetup group.
