Cassandra Goodman is the Director of Housing and Homelessness at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) and oversees several of their collaborative housing projects that seek to protect the rights of low-income tenants and their families at risk of homelessness in the region. Prior to joining NLSLA in 2009, Cassandra served as a Public Defender for six years. Her experience in that sector has proved invaluable to help shape NLSLA's multi-faceted holistic advocacy projects to address issues that intersect housing, homelessness and the criminal justice system. In addition, she also leads NLSLA's Clean Slate Initiative efforts to remove critical legal barriers for system involved youth and adults in housing, employment, and education. Cassandra earned her undergraduate degree from NYU and her J.D. cum laude at the University of Florida School of Law, where she was selected as a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow. She is also a graduate of the Shriver Center's Racial Justice Institute (RJI) Fellowship Program. Cassandra may be reached at CassandraGoodman@nlsla.org.
